I'm looking forward to meeting other cycle riders living in and around Chiang Mai. I have lived here for 3 1/2 years have been enjoying my custom built, here in CM, street fighter it took(1 1/2 years:-?) to complete. Its a 2007 GSXR 750 Suzuki started out as a 1987 Suzuki. I decided on a 750 cc instead of a larger motor for better fuel economy for trips and easier to get around town. The cycle has the primary tank under the seat the street fighter will hold 20 L of petrol. Engine has 117 hp at the wheel which is plenty quick enough for me. Since the pictures were taken you see here here I had it painted blue also added a innovation that allows me to change from a rear grab bar to a large carry platform for trips. Other motorcycle I've owned: 1985- 1150 Suzuki, 1969-Harley in 74, Honda 350 in 1971 .

up date on changes to the street fighter.

Got my first ever bike in March 2011 which was a Honda CBR250R and already onto my fourth (and best yet) which is a 2001 Yamaha XJR1300SP. The other two were a Kawasaki Versys and a Kawasaki Ninja 650R but this, despite being 10yrs old, is the easiest and nicest to ride and the superior quality of a Japanese made bike over a Thai made one is easy to see. Full titanium exhaust which isn't too loud means the awesome sound of the engine can be heard and the fully adjustable Ohlins suspension is very comfortable.

No green book but invoice and 3% excise tax paid which means very little, if any, problems up here in Chiang Rai. A couple of the guys I ride with are police and they said no problem, I was always a tad hesitant to buy without green book before but most of the guys I ride with don't have one and all said Mai Pen Rai!

Hey Niko, where was the 2nd to last picture taken?
BTW, nice-looking riding partner there. Unlike some, she'll make a great umbrella girl.

The picture was taken in the border between Oman and Dubai, in a place called Fili Dam, about 10km's before the Sharjah Kalba highway. It was the Ducati Club Friday ride about 1 year ago... since then we are more than 100 bikers.... Love your bike man... Its awasome... Had a few rides on it and it is just a dream...

Just got the 1199 Panigale with ABS, so it's time sell the good 'ol CBR1000RR.

Quite busy now ordering upgrades for the Panigale. Oh I live in BKK, just went on a day trip to Pattaya.

Thanks, I'm just limited to below 6000rpm now for the first 1000km, at 600km now because I had to leave home early for work. Well 2 more weeks on the rig, then back for more riding.

Here's a couple of pictures of the Triumph Street Triple R that I recently bought. I ended up adding a few pieces of bodywork which I think makes it look better. So far I'm pleased with the bike, handles well and has quite a bit of poke. I managed just over 800 kms on it before having to head back to work, time for it's first service now and I will fit a set of Arrow slip on pipes after that.

Sad to say after 324,000 kms the Africa Twin is gone & I'm now on a Versys.
It started like this

283649=12985-img_3815_0.jpg

an all black beauty, but which for me does not do much for photographs.

So it's now like this

283649=12986-versys.jpg

with a bit more colour tweaking to go in the coming weeks...

AT is "gone"? I thought you would have mothballed it as a museum piece. That machine saw some action, not sure I could have parted with it.

You may have posted elsewhere David but I've not seen it, I'm interested to know how you feel the bikes compare? Do you prefer one to the other? Pros/cons of both?

After (finally) selling my XJR1300 I almost bought a GSXR750 but had a last minute change of heart and went for a 2009 Z1000 instead.
