I got this about 6 months ago but until now only made the trip up from Bangkok after buying it. The last couple of days I've made a few short trips, need to get the km's racked up and get the first service in so it can get "de-restricted" that should be pretty interesting as it is pretty quick as is..

I got myself in addition to my Boxer 250RS a "old" Bike which got all it's legal paperwork right ( 100% clean green Book with all nr's matching) . It's an Yamaha Virago XV 750.
This Bike was also asked for by my Wife as i had one a few years back ( the 400 cc version, and no book) but i mentioned if i get a Virago again it has to be a 750 cc and has to have a green book too. I found this on mocyc.com and the seller lives actually nearby too. So here is my new "old" bike . All seem to work fine but it is a bit "thai'ed" so some works here & there are coming but basically all works right now just some "cosmetic & optical changes should be done ( ie. yamaha logo on tank,console...)

Will keep you updated how things go...here some pics with the saddlebags and tankbag mounted.

Happy trails,

1985 Yamaha Virago 750 - its old but comfy, sufficient power it is doing a good job in longer rides- topspeed around 170kph ...
Mobile%20Upload.jpg

2010 Tiger Retro 110C - it is a small cub style bike and it really is nice to ride it for short trips around town ...it is very nice approached by people - everyone who sees the bike smiles and shows interest...the more i ride this cub the more i like it. i have it since 3 month done 3000km on it and no problems ever.

Well we have had a few scooters the Honda wave ScoopyI and now the airblade. But my pride and joy is the latest one. The Honda Fury. Not showing are all the mods that have been done. Also have saddle bags and a removable luggage rack.

Second post; another great thread.

I have been reading this thread with my fingers crossed, in hope that I will have the dubious distinction of having the ONLY one of these:

IMG_0713Large.jpg

My beloved 2002 DR200SE, with a few mods.

Previously, I rode a Yamaha TW200, but it had no plate, and was thus my 'Sunday ride'. My criteria for a new bike were: under 120kg, seat height < 32", and a Green Book. The little DR fit the bill, so I snapped it up.

Mods include Moose foam air filter, shorter LED turn signals, IRC GP-1 dual-purpose tires (which I like a LOT), and an FMF muffler/midpipe. A Garmin G60CSx mounts to the handlebars, and is powered by an isolated DC-DC converter hidden behind the speedo.

Recently, I have dropped the gearing down a bit, to suit my riding around the trails and back roads of Nong Khai, and it hauls my carcass and my wife's petite bod around comfortable, as long as we stop every two hours to let the circulation return to our posteriors. There's a guy in the US who makes a custom gel seat, but it's VERY pricey, so not on my immediate wish-list.

Future mods may include a Hotcams cam, and a Mikuni pumper.

If anyone knows how to make legs grow, I would gladly trade for a KTM525...

Good riding...

Hi Friends, Hi Ian,

In fact, for the Harley I drag Thai specialised forums since nearly two month and found that there is quite a lot of it in Thailand among owners who want to sell it and specialised shops in direct import.

Thus I found a shop who have the model I look for, issue is that I will have to go through the Green Book appliance process but I intend to do it with the help of an agent, I don't want to waste my time and all the hassle around with that. That's also the reason why I am poping up in discussions around Green Books at present to refressh my memory about that. If yu know any manner to shorten the fatidic "3 month" delay, please let me know.

Now for the other bike, I should say that you are not in it and I let the suspence and the mystery going on.... A V-rod engine...may be but ????

Hi, All.

I'm new to this forum and have been in Thailand for 2 years. I've been biking for 40 years; 38 in UK, 2 in Thailand.

Over the years, I've had the following bikes in UK (in order of ownership):-

BSA C15 250, 1967
Suzuki GT250, 1975
Suzuki GT550, 1976
Sunbeam S8 500, 1954
Morini 3 1/2 Sport, ?
Ducati Darmah, 1978
Ducati Hailwood Replica, 1981
BMW R80RS (probably my least favourite of all), ?
Ducati 851, 1990
Ducati 900 SS (bevel), 1978
Ducati Darmah Sport, 1979
Honda CBR400 RR, ?
Suzuki SV 650 S, 2002
Triumph Daytona 675, 2008
Honda XBR500 (long-term hack). ?

Of all the bikes I've owned, without doubt my favourites have been:-

Ducati Daytona 250, 1964
Owned for 14 years
This is the only photo I still have of one of my UK bikes. My absolute No. 1, maybe because I restored her from a burnt-out wreck. Longest trip in one day; English Suffolk coast to Fishguard ferry (West Wales) and back = 1000 km, most of it motorway and almost flat out. She never missed a beat all the way, which was not bad for an old girl of 40+ years. Fantastic bike and very comfortable. She did many tours of Ireland and Isle of Man, always without fault. Wish I had this bike here in Thailand. Oh, well, I can dream!!!!

This is a library picture but my bike was almost identical & of a similar standard but with a mega exhaust. Fantastic performance but not suitable for long distances because of the riding position.Certainly a head-turner, not least because of the exhaust sound.

Despite losing a little of my enthusiasm for bikes in the last year or so in UK, I decided I had to have a bike inThailand. Any bike had to:-
- be new,
- be cheap (this excluded most bikesavailable in Thailand),
- be easy to maintain at home and havegood spares availability (most dealers’ workshops I see in my locality are crap),
- be as much like my 250 Daytona aspossible.

So now I have a Tiger 250 RS Boxer. OK, not to everyone’s liking but it fulfils ALL my requirements, including that last one.

My first love has always been small bikes, especially singles – despite some of my earlier bikes – because I get so much more satisfaction out of getting them to perform well, compared to a big bike. They’re also much easier to handle on the twisty roads I enjoy. Not many seem to share that opinion of small bikes so, if you want to join your mates a bigger bike is needed.

So now I’m riding in Thailand and enjoying it although I must admit, I don’t get out much because my wife gets very worried when I’m on the bike. Can’t really say I blame her now I’m aware of thenutters out there.

So far, all my riding has been alone. I’m not one for big group rides but one or two companions is OK. Even then, I prefer to know the destination and make my own way there rather than all try to stay together, since everyone rides differently.

That’s it. Maybe I’ll see some of you onthe road one day.

Safe Riding to you all.
