any hint where I can find the tunnels? I thought I know Kanchanaburi quite well, but this is new to me. Any GPS location or hint hot to go there? thanks
cdohrman, I was about to write report on this trip and add GPS points but here it is:
N14.74691, E098.81435 (DECIMAL)
It is a fairly new tourist attraction under the "Rock Mountain". The owner just doesn't like the idea of motorcycle riders getting stuck inside or injured.
So how did we get in there?
Took a half a dozen phone calls from mother in law of one of our riders who managed to contact high military authority in the region who then asked for personal favor from the mine owner.
We rode all this way just to see the mine tunnel and weren't going to just turn back.
You may try though but keep in mind access road to tunnel is blocked by padlocked gate and there is no way around it. I will post pictorial report soon in separate topic.

Now 2024 it is open and manned with 2 guys in a tent, you are not allowed to go inside by yourself. 200 bt for guide, but it was well worth it only me there- so he had time to show me everything, no interrupting radio call from the tent.
The place seems to be well known among thais, but to me it was new!
Its along 3091 east of 323, one hour from Thong Pha Phum.
Two hours north of Kanchanaburi.
