A large, excellent flash modern coffee shop.

The Thai owner barista has lived in Australia and speaks good direct English.

He knows his stuff & coffee - a flat white!

They also have a Japanese eatery.

The location is in the place of the old Bella Villa pizza shop.
The bulk of their customers are doctors and staff from the Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital, across the street.

He was also a significant help organising the 2019 CKhing Khong MUsic Festival.

The Tamarind has changed hands and is no longer the Tamarind. The new place doesn't appear to be as good.

Nam Ngiao

This dish is one of my favourites.

Nam ngiao or nam ngio is a noodle soup or curry of the cuisine of the Tai Yai people who live in the northeast of Burma, the southwest of Yunnan province, China, and in northern Thailand, mainly in Mae Hong Son Province. The dish has become famous in the northern Thai cuisine. Wikipedia

On the forecourt of Mr DIY. This place has very imited seating, sells out quickly. From 11.30am onwards its pumping with hospital staff taking a lunch break and take away orders. Best to avoid at that time. I'd recommend going before 11.30am.

A smart new aircon sweet bakery on the old Sananbin Road.

An impressive structure.

Plenty of of street parking.

Spotlesly clean aircon dining.

A cute little pub and garden restaurant.
Friday nights an excellent jazz 'n blues band

The best music I've heard in Chiang Rai so far, and I try to hit most places for a good singer and good musicians.

Highly recommended. Friday nights!
Note that Miss Eve sings 10-11pm.

Thanks for this place, David. I went with my son and girlfriends yesterday afternoon. We had a very enjoyable time. The musicians were rehersing, the staff very relaxed. The wide selection of quality craft local and international beers surprisingly good.

Logan honey mead 5% was surprisingly good and although sweet had enough tanin and other notes to end up finishing very well on the palate. Hops Yatd is a Chiang Rai micro brewery.

This fruited sour 4% was very interesting too.

I'll be back again to this establishment for another relaxed tasting session and live music for sure!

Chiang Rai Night Life - Music Pubs - Bar Bossa

A small boutique cafe & music pub, has been operating for 3 months only.

Located in the front yard of a family residence, it is open only on Friday - Saturday nights.

Small & cosy, the night we visited, we were the first ones on the premises and luckily got the last table that had not been booked. You've been warned!

Miss Ja Ja from Rajabhat CR was the Mama Cass sized gal, auditioning for work on the night.
And she had a sweet crystal clear Mama Cass voice - I sincerely hope she gets the job.

A steak snack dish, that may need improvement for some.

Durianism @ Chiang Rai.

A swish, spotlessly clean cafe devoted to sensational durian delights.
And being partial a bit of durian I couldn't resist.
Ive spotted the sign on R1023 a few times, just North of the MFL airpot, but have always been on a mission to get into Chiang Rai city, but not today.
Its time to go slow & take a look.
You turn off down mushy fine, chip blue metal drive.

Park right outside the door, almost.

I'm the only customer, so you wonder how they survive with such a stately establishment?

There's lots of durian to choose from.

Durian smoothies & drinks.

Durian pizza - I will give them a go next time.

But what got my attention most was the Baked Durian and Cheese.

And what a total winner winner it was, with exquisite, delicate flavours.

I honestly didn’t expect it to be so incredibly delicious.

I’ll be back regularly!
Give it a go, you’ll be amazed by the unique taste.

Chiang Rai Night Life - Music Pubs - Desty

Continuing the CR Music Pub trail and the - Desty, another new music pub. 4 months old I believe.

Conveniently located right by the entrance to the night bazaar & only 40 metres from a GTR favourite, the Lao Khan.

The lead female singer has a great voice for rock songs.

She's hot, hails from Nakhon Phanom & is studying law at Mae Fah Luang uni!

And the male singer hails from Chiang Khong city!
