Looking for up to date specific info to motorcycle into Laos from Nong Khai? What are the Laos visa, motorcycle, insurance and Covid vaccine requirements to get into Laos and then return to LOS?
I'm very much looking forward to when it is possible to head back up to Northern Laos and follow one's front wheel / nose (which ever is out in front at the time). FWIW, Namibia's good - It'd be great on a bike. Now it looks like I can get back into Malaysia with one 2-week quarantine.
All border crossings must be at a legal international crossing where you can get a passport stamped / visa validated and motorcycle temporarily imported. Legal international border crossings should not be confused with local border trading places

If you can get a translation get one.
It used to be 100 baht & ready the next day.

There was a short period of time when they issued "Bike Passports" similar to a car, but this only lasted about 12 months & the Vehicle Registration Certificate was introduced.
After reading Peter Hooper's post about his trip to Singapore, I decided to get an International Transport Permit in Chiang Mai. According to Peter, the ITP is required to enter Malaysia. I wanted to try it entering Laos. The ITP is essentially a passport for your vehicle. It has all the...
Sorry that I have to use the wrong section as I cannot open a new thread in the general section. The admin may move this thread. As my bike is registered in BKK a friend called DLT Pranburi today if they can issue the Vehicle Registration Certificate when taking the bike abroad. DLT staff...
I am planning a trip to Laos and would like to know what are the last requisites. I have heard about a VEHICLE REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE. Where and how can I get that document ? thanks to everybody ! claude
Information just received suggests that there will big difficulties for Thai registered (& foreign ASEAN?) bikes entering Laos. Laos authorities are not happy about some recent border crossings by Thai riders - not doing the required paperwork & just riding off. The problems from earlier this...
