My favourite the Baiyoke Chalet Hotel right in the center of town.
baiyoke.jpg

As it has the only night club in town, you can park your bike there and not having to ride anywhere while enjoying a night out in town, just be aware that as this is the only nightspot for the youngsters, outside on the road frequent brawls of some hooligans, just don't get involved.
Lake Chong Kham and the eateries there, Crossroads Pub, banks and others in walking distance. 7/11 and SCB bank right next to it.
I prefer the De-Luxe rooms as quite spacious and newly refurbished with convenient bath room, cable TV, fridge, big bed, AC, hot water kettle,......
Prices are between THB 900 and 1,600, although I booked via Agoda, one can easily get the same rates via phone reservation as hardly full.
Staff very friendly and helpful but it's main advantage is the location. ABF the usual of a Thai 3 star place. Rgds, FR

Lakeside Mae Hong Son
Piya guesthouse now has a pool + newly renovated rooms.
Room price has gone up 100 baht to 700. This is arguably the best value for money in north Thailand..

Power On. sent from Sony Xperia AcroS

The Baan Rom Mai
a big new joint in the main street at the north end of town, just by the bridge before the police station.

"plenty of parking" although we were requested to move our bikes to the edge of the car park & not park outside our rooms, that we'd specifically requested at ground level for ease of access.

Bump for those guys looking for accommodation in Mae Hong Son for the annual GTR Memorial Ride.

The Piya is full so choices # 2 are the Palm if you're on a budget, or the Ngamta or Baan Rom Mai.

Cheers
