The ultimate trip ?

We've read and seen horrible stories about last September's flood and rain.
Also, the pictures on this forum.
As we can't judge here in Europe how badly the roads are damaged and how quickly the repairs are carried out, that's the reason we would be happy with a short update.
We plan to do some touring again beginning in December.

I believe most of the recent flooding occurred along the Ping River. I went to Nan and back between two tropical storms and the roads were fine.

As I am starting to get out of Isaan on some of my trips I have started a new thread. I am not finished with Isaan but I am going further afield. My latest trip to Nan will be up soon. In the meantime I will put up my trip to Lampang to get the thread started (which is from my other thread)...

David will probably know more as he lives in the north but he's away and probably won't be back on until the 4th or 5th Nov.

You could always look at alternative areas to travel, there's some great roads in Isaan and following the Mekong is nice.

Come and ride to have a great holiday.
You may see evidence of the flood damage but you will still be able to ride everywhere, basically the same. Not an issue.

I concur with David. I live in the northern most part of Thailand and ride extensively on major and minor roads in the mountains and beyond. As of today's date, flooding is no more, landslides have been scraped off the roads. Currently there is need to be cautious for fine mud/debris being washed across roads, in places, if it rains (landslide residue). Smaller potholes have become bigger potholes and wash-outs on occasion. However, Thai road crews have done a fantastic job of re-opening roads very quickly all considering. Other than sensible caution it's easy to twist the throttle wide and grin from ear to ear everywhere in the top of the north.
