Anyone wanting to Join Us for the Ride up is welcome. Our Group is Meeting at the X-Centre at 10am and will take an easy Cruise up. Check in Our accommodation then carry on up to the Burmese border for a look around? We should be back to Our rooms in time for a shower and Beer O'Clock. A couple of Us are taking Our CRF 250 for a ride so it won't be a high speed trip(Well not on the straights anyway Ha Ha) See everyone tomorrow!

GTR Dinner Piang Luang January 2021

My GTR Dinner ride from Chiang Khong to Piang Luang was a joy.
320 kms for 5.5 hrs riding approximately.

Route 1290 - Paradise Road - R1016 - R1- R1089 - R107 - R1178 - R1322.

And riding route 1322 to Wiang Haeng / Piang Luang is totally awesome.

The Lisu Coffee shop along the way is always a gem & fun with the gals. Plus their brownies from bakery in Wiang Haeng are damn scrumptious.

BTW the coffee shop has changed a bit over the years.

From the Lisu coffe shop it is an amazing twisting descent into the valley. A genuine "happy ending" as you rock into Piang Luang & the Huen King Khala

GTR filled the Huen King Khala, plus a part of the Huen Mhok Kham & the Suan Chom View. An impressive turn out to kick off the 2021 GTR Up-country dinners. The head count in the Krua Piang Luang was 27 people & there was seriously no doubt that the Krua Piang Luang appreciated the business on the night.

The service & food at the Krua Piang Luang was outstanding, & more than one person asked for another serving because it was so, so good.

Once you know were to go, these small towns often provide incredibly good food; & the Krua Piang Luang is an absolute winner; plus it is spotlessly clean.

I've been going to Piang Luang & the Krua Luang for several years now & it was a joy to see the warm reception & welcome GTR got from the stunning Ms Tang & her sister Gung who run the family restaurant. They were thrilled to take some group photos with GTR.

For the old GTR fellah it had been too long since my last visit, & it was fantastic to be back with "family."

Long may the Krua Luang in Piang Luang carry on.
