Wow! What a story and recovery. Your heart and will seem to be in the right place, and gotten you back to the joy of riding.
I've never understood the vocabulary of insurance too well. I'll check in with Mon at cnx and get some suggestions. Are you happy with your current coverage? Thanks for sending your policy.
Is the GTR Group Health Insurance good and available for 68/72 y olds? Seems to be the inevitable cost of getting older - insurance is getting tougher to get...

As the oldest member of the GTR GRoup Health Insurance Policy, I will be 70 at the end of this year, & have started to look for alternative policies should I be refused coverage at renewal time in September.
The recommendation from Thai health was to swap over direct to a Wealthy Healthy Policy

The premium I pay now in the group health insurance is 47,804 Baht for 1.2 million coverage, with a 600,000 baht maximum pay out per claim.
A similar premium in the "old age" Wealthy Healthy policy = WH3000 / 690,000 baht maximum pay out a year.

Lets see what we can turn up.

Yes, I doubt if anyone is happy with a second consecutive 25% increase.
I have queried this & a complaint has been made to Thai Health, none of the increase is due to our broker.
Sadly, there maybe better options out there now for everyone.
Would all members of the policy please contact me to jointly explore other options.
Yes, up 25%. Looking for an alternative.

For those who maybe like myself, approaching 70, the option I am going for is lower coverage = what I can afford.
I cant afford the 63,324 baht premium with my current financial status.
I will take either Plan 1 EH3000 (600,000 baht max) @ 32,009 baht or Plan 3 / EH4000 (800,000 baht max) @ 42,464 baht.
I am also seeking another accident insurance policy, that may assist as well.

We currently have 5 people renewing their group insurance.

I chose plan 4 last year and will most likely go again
Yes, what I found at my age, when you look around the premiums are all very high & so the group one is still reasonable value.
Any new individual policies will need health checks ups & I'm on the standard old age medication - blood pressure & cholesterol - nowadays.
Some additional accident insurance maybe a good idea, to use for "small accidents" & not claim on the main health policy.

Time is winding down guys.
For those people who indicated to me that they will renew and pay, you need to complete the consent form sent out plus pay your premium for the desired coverage
For myself I will renew at the lowest coverage this time round, due to financial constraints.
From what I understand with most guys in the policy, everyone except maybe one person will renew. Sadly it is what it is with premium increase and insurance companies looking to maximise profit.
The group policy is renewed one time, as a group, when all the premiums are in; so if you're taking your time and wish to renew please do so asap, preferably before the 20th if possible.
Individual premiums are not remitted as they come, but are remitted one time as a group.
We need to wrap it up as one.
Many thanks.

Please be advised that GTR has changed the group health insurance broker from Cnx Insure to our dear friend Mon.

Contact: [email protected]

All our insurance recommendations are now directed to Mon.
Mon is one of our biking community, a rider who has attended GTR dinners, the GTR MHS Memorial Ride & MotoGP by motorcycle!

Interesting tricky times with this policy.

Another significant premium hike, sadly 45%, due to claims of 467,000 baht the last 12 months. I'm happy to say none from me this time.

One of the issues is that as the GTR group's size has reduced, any claims affect the profitability of the policy more for the insurer & hence bigger premium hikes.

The beauty of this policy, set up at the start by the late Tony Dabbs at E-Insure, was the ease of setup.
No health checks & you were immediately in as a "group employee." The GT Rider biz registration was used, without any checks.
That would not be possible again now, as company records, staff work permits & social security tax records would be needed for everyone.
Times have changed significantly, & we were fortunate to set it up then.

Sadly, it has now gotten to whether it is of questionable value renewing for most members.
For some members there may now be better options elsewhere; but

If you want to move, consider:
1. You may need a health checkup, & any pre-existing conditions will not be covered.
2. If you're over 60 it is not easy to find affordable coverage.
3. I'm the oldest in the group @ 71 & it's not easy finding something affordable that still offers value for money.
4. If the group insurance policy ceases to be the options available to me are
a. Wealthy Healthy with the same company Thai Health via Mon.
b. Pacific Cross via Mon.
Mon has the information.

We are covered with the group policy until the end of September.
It takes 10-15 days to sort out a new policy with another company, should you choose to do so.
Whatever you decide please advise Mon asap, so she knows what to do, plus keep you covered.
Do whatever is best for you.

I am undecided about which one I will go for but will decide next week.

This is how I see my position at the moment

GTR GROUP HEALTH
Plan 1: 600,000 baht @ 46,124 baht.
Plan 3: 800,000 baht @ 61,283 baht.
Plan 6: 1,200,000 baht @ 91,603 baht.
But the maximum payout per case is half.

If I don't renew my group health insurance Wealthy Healthy (Thai Health) may be an option.
Change straight to a Wealthy Healthy policy without a check-up?
They once said I could swap over & not worry about the maximum 69-year join date.

WEALTHY HEALTHY
WH 345,000 @ 31,676 baht / + 75 46,878 baht.
WH 460,000 @ 41,810 baht / + 75 62,079 baht.
WH 690,000 @ 62,069 / + 75 92,482 baht.
WH 920,000 @ 82,348 / + 75 122,886 baht.
WH 1,380,000 @ 122,886 / + 75 183,693 baht.
WH 2,760,000 @ 171,531 / + 75 256, 661 baht.
What is the maximum payout per case - 50%?

PACIFIC CROSS - suggested by Mon.
Standard 270,000 baht cover @ 34,863 baht.
Standard Plus 450,000 baht cover @ 48,051 baht.
Standard Extra 780,000 baht cover @ 60,080 baht.
Premier 1,200,000 baht cover @ 77,155 baht.
Premier Plus 3,000,000 baht cover @ 111,891 baht.
+ Additional Accident Insurance coverage @ 145 baht per 100,000 baht.
Standard additional accident coverage 1,000,000 baht = 1450 baht?
Standard Plus additional accident coverage 3,000,000 baht = 4350 baht.
Standard Extra additional accident coverage 3,000,000 baht = 4350 baht.

The Pacific Cross additional accident insurance looks fantastic, but I will need a health check-up to get in & there may be issues that make for some exclusions. High blood pressure/cholesterol being two.

I asked Mon to recommend some good accident insurance for motorbike riding.

At the moment the Group insurance one still looks like the best one for me?

An issue changing from the Group Health Policy to Wealthy Healthy, you need a complete health check-up first. Any pre-existing conditions are not covered.
