I have been using ear canal inserts from the hardware shop sold under brand name Giant Kingkong for ฿38
These plugs work well for me, reducing annoying frequencies, but at the same time allowing me to listen to music via my Cardo bluetooth. Unfortunately the stalk for removing the plug does tend to need careful positioning so as not to catch on my helmet lining.
In the quest for an alternative I am now trying soft silicone ear plugs. This type doesn't get inserted into the inner ear, rather inserted into the outer ear.
Sold under the brand name 'Yamada' purchased from Fascino Chemist for ฿75
Yamada are swidgy soft for moulding to the correct shape each time. Reusable and washable.
They have enough tack and mouldability to stay in place and feel very comfortable. It can be a bit fiddly to get a balanced moulding feel between left and right ears. I have found myself stopping and remoulding to get the balance correct.
For me Yamada frequency protection is fantastic, but so much so I cannot hear my music via Cardo anymore.
For hearing protection when I want music, I'm going to cut the stalk to reduce the length on the Giant King Kong. I will use the Yamada for rides where I want greater frequency protection and no music.
