Very interesting stuff, thanks. The article is a bit biased in that I would not describe the traffic situation in Thailand as "mayhem" but perhaps I have just been living here for too long to see the difference. Yes the traffic in Thailand is different but you get used to it. The photos and the article posted here are thought provoking and interesting. Yes travel on a bike in Thailand has its hazards, I would emphasize the hot climate and heavy rains as generally adverse to long distance biking, unless undertaken in the dry season from November to February.
