About the Kawy ER6, sorry guys, I HATE IT so much! IMHO, it's like some low-cost designed Star-Trek-Vessel-Replica... And this big shock/spring on the right hand side, like a part of a broken body-builder machine just lost here by chance: beurk and re-beurk!
So, for me, exit the ER6! No comment!..
ha ha.. Yeah I have to say its looks didnt grab me and make me desire it also, and if spending real money you need to 'want' it.. Its really got that 'eye of Sauron' thing happening up there at the headlight. :D

Tho I kinda like the odd asymmetrical shock.. And have to say its looks have grown on me the more I looked at it. It would all have to come down to how it rides, I rented an FZ6 and it howled nicely, maybe a bit too nicely being a bit top end sport feel.

All in all I am going to sit on the sidelines with my el cheapo bike to see how new FTA's with Japan and Oz shakeout.. With the baht having risen so much against AUD / GBP / EUR that also may effect price planning from major manufacturers and or hopefully cause some resetting of price points. Interesting to see if anything happens with legit KTM's and how much they hurt the wallet.. A superduke on the roads or a 690SM.. Hmm desire !!

Gobs...FWIW...here's an older Africa Twin and a Trans Alp...located in Pattaya

Africa Twin is a '97, asking 175k-Bt inc'l book & plate. Note it's an older
style license place for Bangkok, but legit

AfricaTwin, it's an older style license place for Bangkok, but legit

Sawasdee crap Khun gobs. Thanks for your polite reply on the other post. I know its not an AT or TA but thought of you when I saw this ad:

http://www.bahtsold.com/detail.php?id=35605

Cruising the bike ads is like porn to me-although I've got enough at home I'm always looking outside for more. There seems to be a lot of bikes out there and not too many buyers. Maybe the overall world economy is affecting the market. I've seen 2 or 3 I could almost justify owning if my funds were not so limited and the future not so unclear. Anyway, just a thought...

Hi Gobs good reading, as I was in same situation 6 months ago, I rode the FZ6 it is fantastic has everything you need for L.O.S. but I have long legs so a bit cramped. The whole deal for the FZ6 impressed me offering years of trouble free riding and service also no backyard mechanic's has played with things. I thought the 400cc steed for 115,000 baht was also a decent cheap bike on this site, just offering my two bobs worth.
I don't think Yamies will go down in price because of competion rather other brands will increase their pricing after 12mths of operation.

Hi my friends,

First of all, I want to tell you how moved I feel. So much attention from you all to my request is realy amazing. No contest: the GT Rider board is THE best biker site I've ever known...
Thank you very much to all here for the help, the tips, the hunt, the pictures and the advices.

So now, three weeks later, the second hand bike I was looking for has changed in a brand new Yamaha FZ6 Fazer.

 AND I JUST GOT IT YESTERDAY

Yes, quicly delivered by Charoen Motor (there was one in stock in BKK), the well known and "famous" Yamaha Big Bike shop in Chiang Mai. Great staff and great people there!
I'm in heaven, smiling to the angels! IMHO, and as you say Ken, it is THE bike to ride in LOS, on roads and in city and around. Not big, not small; powered a lot if you want as easy to softly handle in the traffic; braking just right or cornering as well; as good for a solo free ride as for a quiet and lovely "duo" one...

OK, there are more torqued bikes, bigger ones or more "for the show"... No matter at all: I know now what is a true versatile bike!
Obviously, the only thing it can't do is offroad trips. May pen Ray, my cherrished XR 250 is always ready for this...

 Just want to share my pleasure with you, the nice guys here...

Ken, are you so tall? I saw a red sprayed Fazer in Charoen shop, is it yours? As you say, the prices shouldn't go by down: I met the sale manager from BKK and he told me that the prices, if they have to change they should be going up (maybe a 10 KB next year), depend on the Yen vs Baht exchange rate. Furthermore, he confirmed to me the Yamaha BB for the thai market are made in Japan and NOT made in India, as some say in an other board...
Simon, thanks for the PM... it helped me in my choice.
LivinLos, please, go for a ride with a rented FZ6. I guess you won't regret...

Well, one more time I make a very long blah-blah...
Sorry if borring.

Cheers to all,
Gobs

Robin...
The shop is called Nissan Bikes...and it's closed today (Sunday).
I go by the shop tomorrow, verify the owners phone number and post it here. I'm sure the reg/book is legal, but know nothing about the bike.
