You can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig.

IMO the beak makes it look like a Chinese rip-off GS...

I agree of course that the front of the Versys is a problem on an otherwise handsome bike. I blacked out the silver snout on mine and it's a little less offensive now. But to really fix the front it would take a little bit more than just a beak added on. The stacked headlights would need to go, and everything around them too. A huge job and probably not worth it.

The S2 concept website mentioned above has a whole new head unit that turns the Versys into a supermoto style bike - but it's for the old 2009 Versys. Nothing for 2010 and beyond.

Each to his or her own and I am thinking just to run the side filler panels and not the beak.

The parts are done now and I am now thinking of incorporating the turn signal into the filler panel. Off to find a suitable signal light

If well made and solidly attached, it looks like it might even create downforce on the front of the bike at speed which must surely be a good thing, no?

Although the versys is a relatively cheap bike (not to me tho) , it must have been tested in a professional environment ,that wind and various ground conditions contributed to a final design,,,,,it would be ignorant to think that we mere bikers/ modifiers
could dictate perfection on our own whims and aesthetics and preferences ,to what is the kwaka guys opinion deem right.

just my opinion

That's what we would like to think but I believe that in reality, the accounting guys have as big an input into the final product (parts used etc) as the design and engineering guys. Even much more expensive bikes (think BMW's, KTM's) suffer from some inferior parts. Otherwise, there would be no aftermarket suppliers selling the likes of suspension, exhaust, dampers, seats, tyres.... the list goes on

Here is the finished product, attached with the same Kawi screws as the side panels.
I am going to run my bike like this, less beak.

I made a few sets so if you want one too, it is 3200 B to go the beakless way and 4500 B with beak

Looking good!

Better than in the other pic above, maybe because your beak is smaller?

If all parts are the same color it may look even better!

It was painted with a rattle can just for this pic

I think that I am going to run only the side filler panels on my own bike, and paint them red

Here's an interesting one piece "beak" for the Versys spotted at Siam Red Bull Park this weekend-

Pretty sure Hoghead is out of the country at the moment... Not sure if he's checking this forum right now?

Before I left for Canada, my helper K. Korn, and I discussed flush mounting the stock turn signal into the side filler fairing, and painting it red to match the bike rather than the previous rattle can flat black. Much to my surprise he modified it on his own and looks pretty good.

As per the original design, you can use just the side fairings or fairings with beak
