Updated Info About The Ferry Across Queen Sirikit Dam.

Over the years the condition of the ferries and the ramps have varied greatly.
Now it's better than ever. There is even 2 ferries for bikes. One small and one larger one. Don't know why, but the ferry-man has a brand new Ducati in his shed and my guess will be he needs money to pay for it. 150 bath pr bike is not too bad.
The north side is all concrete ramps, the south side is still dirt. But it has been levelled out.
Next time there I'll get the ferry-man ph number and post here.

The old restaurant on the south side. Nice road.

The "new" restaurant. They will call the Ferry-man. Expect about 30 minutes waiting.

This is the small Bike ferry. The car ferry to the right.

A 10-15 min crossing.

The ramp on the north side.

Easy getting off.

Then you get to ride this to Na Muen.

How difficult is the ferry crossing of the Sirikit Dam Reservoir from South to North (Ban Pak Nai) with a large touring motorcycle, assuming it is dry? I have no problems riding unpaved roads as long as there are no ruts or sand. Wayne66 used the ferry last month, but his CBX500 is much lighter.

The 1339 is fine to ride but as you get to the southern ferry point there is a 100 meters or so of mud road if I remember correctly, this goes down hill to where I parked the bike in the photos. As you can see in the first few photos on the thread.
The wait for the ferry is very hit and miss, as they will not just come across from the northern side and collect one bike, so I was told. If they are there already then great, if not be prepared for a long wait. The food place at the southern ferry point is ok, the pork fried rice was good for me, the guy there may ring the ferry guy for you also his wife does the cooking.
When you get off on the northern side there is a wooden ramp to ride over and you are straight on to the road which climbs uphill a bit before leveling out.
The 1026 is a nice ride

I plan on crossing on the ferry mid November from the northern side, and there will be 8 bikes. Hopefully to will be worth while for the operator cross over and pick us up

I believe they operate from the Northern side so it should be better than hanging around on the south side waiting

I looked at going around rather than waiting and it's a long way if my memory serves me correct you have to go all the way back down the 1339 to Nam Pat
