Up to 1893 Sawankhalok was a province & the police station was located on the west side of the Yom River.
It was a one storey building, 1 metre above ground level.
After 1893 Sawankhalok became part of Sukhothai province, & the police station was relocated to the East side of the Yom River.
The station was built by Luang Kamhaeng Singhanat, the superintendent of the provincial police.
The building land was formerly Wat Luang Krung, but was given by the temple, after which the temple was later abandoned.
The police station was built in the Reun Panya style, which composed 1 large hall, lower concrete poles, upper poles with red wood.
The sides were teak, the upper ceiling tabag wood, the concrete roof was 10 metres wide x 30 metres long.
The building cost in 1983 was 7,000 baht.
In 1978 the concrete roof as was changed to a tile roof, with eaves around the building.
It remained used as the Sawankhalok police station until 1995, when a new building was built next door.
