Lisu New Year 95 - a big year for me & Lisu New Year.... I managed to hit 3 different villages over a week.

The wonderful Lisu gal on the left worked as the GTR maid for several years & ended up managing OT massage by the railway station.
Last I heard she was married to a farang & had done well for herself.

The area to the east of Chiang Dao is a wonderful area for hilltribes - Karen, Akha, Palong, Lahu, Lisu.
Late 1980s.. Lisu Mae Oh was another of my favourite hill tribe villages to visit & hang out in.
The road there now is all asphalt & is on the GTR GT map grid 6A.

More Lisu New Year February 1995 - Lisu Khun Jae on R1150 Phrao - Wiang Pa Pao
Before the hard road was finished east of Tha Ton I was up at my wifes home when I heard it was Lisu New Year at Huai San (Ban Lao Ta) . I walked along with my camera which was loaded with Black and White for portraits but took quite a few of the action despite missing the vivid colours. The men started it off and then the women joined in and it finally became all female. Probably 88 or 89.
