Still on the subject of comparisons, the BMW R nineT, which I saw in the flesh for the first time this week at the German Auto Motor Co. showroom in BKK, and which is another great looking price (but expensive here at 1,090,000) only has a seat height of 785mm, lower than the DS.
I've watched a few video reviews on the BMW and the seat height was never mentioned, only the convertibility of it and how it is a little too thin and uncomfortable, something, by the looks of it, the DS seat won't suffer from
went to moto rapido Uks premier Ducati dealer yesterday on my old 750ss had a nice 200 mile ride ,, he has already taken £1000 deposits on 46 scramblers for delivery in march ,, thats amazing as they dont actually know the final UK retail price ????

I went. Was told Thai prices will be released at the Expo at Impact at the end of the month. I was given a free ticket to this event yesterday so I may end up going.
Bike is compact but didn't feel uncomfortably small. Was informed yesterday from Ducati via the official FB page that a high seat will be available as an optional accessory. I still think it could be a good weekend bike for me to explore the provinces around BKK with a little light off-road when I get the chance. Size is still my main concern.
Some pics. The ones of me on the bikes aren't great (you just can't get the staff nowadays) but will give you some idea of the size of the bike. I'm 180cm tall.

It doesn't look painfully small, but not really comfy for longer touring either. A higher seat might help a bit but probably not much. And how about that exhaust? It looks like it'll restrict mobility for the foot quite a bit. Does it?

The bikes were on side stands so you couldn't easily stand up on the pegs or gauge how your feeting would feel in a typical riding position.
I agree it's not designed for long range touring, but then again it's not a touring bike. It could get me to Kanchanburi/Ratchaburi comfortably and once I'm there allow me to have some fun off the tarmac a little.
I've see that Continental make TKC80's to fit these wheel sizes for better grip off road if that's what you needed. Once again however, this is not a purpose built off-road bike (suspension, front wheel size). It's a Scrambler!
I've started to cultivate my beard for March! :happy2:

I want one
Ducati went a little crazy with the accessories - too much and too much on both bike and apparel - but the bike is just nicely designed, fun around town tool.

Should not have done it ..... that is going to the Ducati dealer in Khon kaen to have a look at the Scrambler's that they have on show for 10 days.
Of course no test-ride (the dealer does not even get the keys of the show bikes) but I had a sit on the different models. Indeed a small bike with a low center-weight. Must be easy to ride. Nice Pirelli MT60RS tyres (front tyre would perfectly fit my Z250). Bremco brakes with ABS. For touring (but is is not a touring bike) a bit small tank of 16l (I was told). For the short sit on the bikes I had it did feel very comfortable. I not really understand the price difference but that is probably just marketing for people who want to show of the bought the expensive model. Only one 1 model has an after-market slip-on muffler.
Very, very tempting ....
As for now the Scramblers are shown in the Ducati show-room but end this months the yellow containers will arrive and be placed at the parking lot of the Ducati dealer-ship. The owner is working on having 2 demo bikes for test-rides.
The dealer in KK is from the same family as the dealer in Udon Thani and I was told that the Scrambler show in Udon Thani is canceled for the moment. I was told the Icon can be delivered in March, the other models 2 months later. The KK dealership has a dedicated Ducati workshop.
Within the price-tag I think the bike will sell very well
