Road in Luang Namtha region passable??

I wanna take the road from LONG to Tha Luang and on to Vieng Phoukha in the Luang Namtha Region through the high mountains. But on the GT-Riders Map i see that it is a unconfirmed-status road. So, does anybody know how the road conditions a
