Super sad news today, Lung Air, the friendly loveable owner of the Kafe Pub & Restaurant on Moon Muang Road has passed away suddenly.
Lung Air founded the Kafe Pub & restaurant in 1985 & always kept it open, his pub was an Icon on the moat in Chiang Mai as he was with his lovely wife Look.
He proudly proclaimed his pub the Friendliest in Chiang Mai, and indeed it was from the start!
Both Air & Look loved and cared for all their customers.
They never differentiated between Thai or farang, everyone was welcome equally & it showed in their clientele. They always had a healthy mix of Thai & farang. The Kafe never was or is a Thai or farang establishment, it was a mixture of both. And this was a true reflection of their kindness to everyone.
Air was like a close brother to me & whilst I was in Chiang Mai for 35 years, the Kafe often seemed like my second home - you were always made welcome to feel like at home.
After moving to Chiang Khong, people ask me what I miss most about Chiang Mai; and the answer is always the Kafe, Lung Air, Look his wife & the staff!
Chiang Mai will never be the same again when I visit. A very dear, close friend has moved on.
My sincere condolences to Look, Air's wife, & the "Kafe family staff." See you all soon for Air's funeral.
There was never a bad day or night in the Kafe. It was always a good time.
With Moto-Rex, my mum & brother May 2013 @ the Kafe
RIP Lung Air. Our fabulous 30-year Kafe relationship will be cherished forever, for indeed it always was "Let the good times roll."
If I understand correctly the funeral for Air will be at Wat Santitham, starting from the 18th December 2022.
GTR will be there.
