Phitakhon 2025 - Dan Sai (Loei)

This year's Phitakhon festival in Dan Sai (Loei Province) is scheduled from Sat 28th to Mon 30th June. The major event where the masked walk through Dan Sai town is on Sun 29th June. As I would like to go and stay there, tried from yesterday evening on to book a room, to no avail. Everything full, so me clever tried in Phu Rua, not much available and sinfully expensive too. In the end found a bungalow in Nakhon Thai for a normal price. Both Phu Rua and Nakhon Thai are some 45 to 50 kms away but it seems this festival is getting ever more popular every year. Anyway will go on SU from Nakhon Thai to Dan Sai to watch the celebration and in the late afternoon ride on for a night in beautiful Chiang Khan. Will post some pictures once back home. This post is just to warn you if you want to go there that everything is already full from 28th to 30th of June 2025.

Thanks Wayne, will be the next time i go to KK because this time i today already booked all rooms along my route via Uttaradit and Nakhon Thai, so will not even get close to Chumpae but i intend to meet a friend in Udon soon and then i'll be on the Lomsak/Namnao ride. Rgds, Franz

Franz, yeah I was thinking of going, as I usually don't miss, but was slow to get a room confirmation.
I tried to get into my usual, the Dan Sai resort, & thought I had made a booking 2 months ago, but now I can see there was no acknowledgement to my booking request.
So I'm going to give it a miss this year.
I had thought I would do another Esarn meander post Dan Sai trip like last year, but I am holding off on that one too at the moment. Finances are an issue at the moment. Sorry to say. The GTR forum rebuild has cost several hundred US$ and I need to recover some of that money soon, if possible.
