The Thai army received funding to cut a new road to their border post.

The road passes through some incredible native forest with magnificent trees.

The forest understory is quite open and will make for good exploring on foot, viewing wildlife and flora.

I'll return with more suitable walking gear instead of my riding gear.

The new road is clay dirt so I'd have no chance riding it in wet weather. In places its very steep but easily rideable on my ADV350 in dry weather

There is a water crossing, but its not too deep for my ADV350 which has poor water crossing ability due to drivetrain vent locations

The road starts from the Sunflower Festival show ground and runs up to a remote Thai army border post. An amazing viewpoint into Myanmar (which was previously not unavailable).

Air pollution is still bad so vista photos limited.

I hope you enjoy the the ride.

Its possible to negotiate a very basic bed for the night for a donation of ฿200-300 pn at the local agricultural centre.

Please please keep the locals sweet and onside. Ive been working very hard (with Thai Army border patrol, border police, school teachers, head villager and locals) over the last two years with the Lisu locals so bikers and GTR vistors should get a good welcome.

Locals are very shy, reserved and wary of people passing through. But they do open up if you make a gentle and measured effort, especially multiple and ongoing visits.

The girls and local customers at this local shop enjoy being shouted a beer or cold drink (or event basic medical supplies and provisions) and conversation from time to time.

The border is very porous at this part of Thailand. I can't say too much yet, but Ive been encouraged to access Myanmar with friendly escort and kind welcome.
