I used this point to get into laos with my Honda wave in the past. Anyone with resent experience on this point? Is the crossing with small bikes still possible? If I just do a border run to get a 30 days stamp, anyone did this latly? It would be interesting if this once easy point is still an option for crossing into laos and for visa run?

It is difficult to take scooters / bikes less than 250cc into Laos nowadays = cannot unless you get approval via a tour company.
Muang Ngern / Huay Kon currently does not allow entry into Laos without going via a tour company.
All sad to say.
