Hi,

later this week my Honda Click 125i and I will go from Na Noi to Phayao. Google offers going to Nan and taking the 1091 *or* going to Wiang Sa, turn left and turn right at Ban Pang Mon towards Wat Saliam and continue this road until it hits Ban Luang on the 1091 (thats where I plan to spend the night).

The road between Ban Pang Mon and Ban Luang is about 45 km and does not have a number on google maps or maps.me.

It has a number in my hiking/cycling map - starting with 3020 and ending with 3052. Does anybody know this road and rode it recently or should I rather ride to Nan first and stick to the 1091 from the start (which I went by bus in 2016 and regretted not to have the possibility to stop where I wanted ;-) ).

Thanks again for your help :)

I havent travelled that road myself but I used Google street view and the road looks quite nice for a scooter ride…

I passed that way in May 2019 and saved my Garmin track. The 45 km took me 58 minutes, including a ten minute stop. The mean grade is 6%. About 400m is over 20% grade, of which just 70m is over 25%.

If it were difficult I would have turned around! "He who turns and rides away lives to ride another day."

Thank you - yes, it does look perfect.

On the other hand, there some pieces on streetview missing, only several small pieces in between - so probably some technical glitch? Anyway, I'd be happy, if somebody knew the road - and could reassure me.

Hi Morningrider,
do you remember, if everything was sealed? Any river flowing over the road?
Thank you

Edit: your "difficult" might be my "absolutely impossible - never, ever", and my "difficult" your "hey, what a nice ride" ;-)

I don't remember. That was 60,000 km and almost six years ago. I didn't take any photos on that road, so there weren't any stunning vistas. But that might have been because it was May, when it tends to be hazy. The bike was a 2013 CB500X with Dunlop Mixtour tires, a road bike not a dirt bike. I am pretty quick to turn around! I always like to have an escape route in my plan, where I can turn around and go another way. And start the day early, so I have the time to chicken out, if need be.

Thank you - so I'll see whether I can come up with a decent chicken out plan and get up early :)
