Hi there, well travelled folks in GTR,

I've been trying to scour the forum for information on where to find Super or Premium petrol (95 RON) in Laos. With the current issues in the Middle East affecting fuel supply chains, it seems even harder to get reliable information on fuel availability, so I'm hoping to mark down suitable fuel stations on my map before my upcoming trip in Dec 2026 / Jan 2027.

So far, I've only managed to identify a few PTT stations in Luang Prabang and Vientiane that appear to offer 95 RON fuel. However, I'm unsure about the actual quality and consistency of the fuel available at other stations throughout Laos.

I've already purchased a Guglatech fuel sock filter some time ago after learning a costly lesson on my previous Laos trip. I'd like to hear from the more seasoned Laos riders here, would you recommend using the Guglatech filter every time I refuel in Laos, regardless of the station?

The reason I'm asking is that during my last trip, after refuelling at two different PTT stations in Laos, I later discovered a significant amount of reddish powder-like dirt in my fuel tank when I returned to Singapore and had my in-tank fuel filter replaced as a precaution. The debris had settled at the bottom of the tank, which was quite concerning.

It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could share locations of reliable stations selling 95 RON fuel in Laos, or any recommendations on trusted fuel brands and stations throughout Laos?

Thanks in advance, and ride safe!

I never used a filter for Laos in over 20 trips.
PTT is popping up all over Laos nowadays.

Did you notice any significant bike performance?

PTT & Shell would be my preferred brands to use.
