GT Rider Up Country Dinner # 45- Ngao - Saturday 18 May
A new non-last Wednesday of the month date.

Changed from March to May 2024.

Trying to get these going again, if there's positive feedback & attendance.
I've been too busy of late with several projects going that I've been unable to commit to an event this month.
However, I reckon I should be in the clear next month - March - Poi Sang Long Festivals depending.

I once surveyed in Ngao with Dave DKT a couple of years ago, looking for places but we came up blank.
But I can see there's a couple of new places that have opened up that are close by, that should do the trick.

One special option for this event I also thought would be interesting is to set up is an old cowboy movie showing at the retro film museum a few kms up the road, that could be mid-afternoon, just for a laugh.

It can be done, but I need to check & confirm with the film museum owner.
The movie would be a black & white film, silent with a voice over from the operator.

I also need to check & confirm the new venues I've seen will still be operating, & that the new hotel is all go.
Once I come back safely from Luang Prabang.

Ngao city is here

I've recently surveyed Ngao city at dusk en route to Phrae.
There are some quite acceptable options.

1. Hotel.

2. A Happy Hour Venue.

From the hotel to dinner venue is 800 metres = walking distance.

Now for a date.

Ok let's have a go & try this for a weekend

Saturday 18th May.

The recommended hotel

Happy Hour Rendezvous

Dinner, Music & socialising

Please click on the links to get an idea where everything is.
Everything is relatively close together. Maximum 800 metres.

I'm planning to go back to Luang Prabang soon & can't commit to a last Wednesday of the month dinner, hence a non-last Wednesday of the month.

6 guys made it to Ngao city for an easy-going relaxed night in one hell of a quiet little town, but we hit the right spots & had a great night.
Some guys not getting in until 2am, who would have ever thought that was possible in Ngao city??
Thankyou guys for coming - Heineken, Luca, Mike Rust, James, Brian Sage.

The designated dinner spot - Apirom Pub & Restaurant

When checking the bill at the Apirom, a nice polite gentleman come up & thanked us for visiting Ngao city - the mayor of Ngao city.

The happy hour rendezvous spot failed because Warped Bar was closed.
We suspect because that night was the 1st Ngao city music festival out on the highway – little did we know.
It was a leisurely stroll back to the LD hotel from the Apirom, and as luck would have it the bar beer opposite the LD was open & a few more bevvies wee enjoyed with the locals.
It was past midnight & more people rocked up, so we assume the "Forever Young" is the #1 popular late night drinking spot in Ngao city.
