Thanks to let me join you onboard. My name's Eric and as the title said, I lived in France. I follow your website and forum from a while and I want to thank you a lot for the job, it's very useful and rich.
What about the Golden Triangle ? Back in march we did the Mae Hong Son Loop with two mates, unfortunately I rented an SUV, fearing for them about riding 2 wheelers on south asia road (I've a previous experience in Vietnam which is pretty fun but scary). My bad, I both underestimate their skills and missjudged Thailand. We were surprised by the quality of the road, and the kindness of people, their pretty chill and respecful on the road ! However we rented Honda Dream 125 to explore remote ethnic village in Mae Hong Son area, great day !
For march-april 2017, we'll be back in Thailand, but the main goal will be Laos. From Chiang Mai, where we will rent 4 Honda CRF250L, we'll cross at Chiang Khong and make a two weeks loop in Northern Laos (Pakbeng, Luang Prabang, Nong Khiaw, Luang Namtha,...). For sure I'll order your map
And we will share the adventure on the forum.
What about my ride ? I used to have a BMW F800R, however I'll switch for a more off-road kind : Huqvarna 701 Enduro (order form to be filed by Sat.).
Maybe we will catchup and have a drink with some of you in Chiang Mai ?
