Userbeam.de has weekly updates of Garmin maps for most countries in the world.

I have played a bit around with the TYP files for the Garmin OSM maps.
Once we figure out how to upload them to the forum I'll update the map once a month, Thai time.
Different colour for different class of roads.

With the loss of Nightrider's valuable OSM maps for SE Asia, I was looking around for a replacement. Earlier this month, I found it. OpenMapsChest.org uses the same OSM dataset that Nightrider used and it updates every week. The available maps cover most of the world. The weekly updates include a .img file for the Garmin SD card and a gmap file for use with Basecamp. I've tried them on my Zumo XT, Zumo 396, and Basecamp on my iMac and all have worked just fine.

The thread title is perfect so I'll put my little announcement here. I've completed special-purpose motorcycle maps for most of the world, 19 maps covering 160 countries, and you can download them here:

Home | Advosm

They analyze OSM data to reveal paved roads, unpaved roads, tracks open to motorcycles, tracks closed to motorcycles, surface warnings, track grades, narrow roads, ford crossings, weir crossings, protected areas, and steep terrain, via contour lines. I was using AlternativasLibres maps but too many times I ended up turning around, downhill, on an impassible dirt road that looked like a paved road on the map. I couldn't find another map that did what I wanted, which was to make all the information in OSM that is useful for bikers visible on a small Garmin screen (in bright sunlight). So I made my own. Then friends asked for maps for their countries. After Thailand came Southeast Asia, then Silk Road, then Australia, then the rest of the world. I hope you find them useful.

A comparison between maps, near the 1148:

This is why I began the project:
