Driving in to Laos

Is it possible for me to drive my Thai registered pick up in to Laos? It is registered in my wifes name, I just wondered if this was possible without her being with me.

Yes, you can drive the pickup into Laos but you will need to have written permission from the missus that she allows you to bring the car over the border. I thonk there is an example of the permission doc on the GT Rider site. On the Lao side there is no problem.

Best is to get the purple "passport rot" from the Land Transport Department but bring also the original registration book (the blue book) as at some Thai border crossings the customs people want to see this
