Now, how many cases or kegs of Marzen, Grosser, Stiegel, Ottakrinker Gold and Old Whisky beer do I need to bribe you to indoctrinate me to becoming a BMW backyard mechanic?
Hahaha, no need to give me Goesser, Ottakringer, Stiegl or the others, Singha does just fine................ . No, I think nobody will have to do much convincing work on you to become a backyard mechanic. Just imagine you riding every once and then for service to the
Big Smog, preciser to Radchada Rd. where your nearest BMW service is, then seing the Hiso prices there..... :? . And this thumper is easily serviced on your own. As long as it doesn't develop too many glitches but Beemers usually don't do..... , cheeers with your 'toys for boys', FR

Hi Frends,

I don't understand very much your posts exchange on that but the coordinates of a good BMW specialist mechanic is allways welcome specially when we could better communicate in a European style.

If you are one of those do not hesitate to PM your coordinates, we'll meet in summer.

All the best, as said to Jerry -Monsterman-, for my first love (understand the Ducati, even if it have been severals...hahaha !) I have the electronic tuning tools, if one needs it once.

Hi cdrw!

Happy guy, aren't you? :D

As said Franz, don't worry so much: the F650GS usually doesn't give problems. They are "agricultural" but reliable... Some of these (well cared) bikes in US have reached 100 Kmiles and are running for more.
About mechanic, once you do it, you know how to do it for the next times... untill the end! You only need "first experience" and a "small" backyard!
IMHO (but it's me!), try to respect Inspection and Service timing from BMW, but do it yourself as far as you have the tools and the "clue"...
If you're interested I can e-mail you a copy of the BMW Maintenance Shedule. Just tell me...

I agree with you: "that BMW is TOO heavy for me to use in the dirt!" and not realy adapted for that. It's a "soft" offroad bike: earth/sand/gravel roads or large dirt tracks, it's OK, but Xcross it's a NO-NO... allthough some do it and are happy to do it

I wish you a lot of pleasure with your new baby!
Cheers,
Gobs
