Heads up. This fantastic road is getting a new tarmac sheet.
Western side of Ban Phaya Phipak, Khun Tan District (Phu Long Tang Dragon Pool สระมังกร ภูหลงถัง) all the way to the junction with the 1155 a new sheet has/is being laid.
Road crews currently working. The old surface has been pre-dressed with bitumin spray slurry.
The new sheet is pool table smooth with great camber. Some areas of new sheet have loose stones. Smells very fresh
10 wheel trucks are hauling hot bitumen up over the mountain from the western side (1020). These trucks are crawling in low ration 1st and good luck to them. Diesel oil used to help the hot bitumen slip out of the trucks has been deposited on the road in almost a constant strip all the way up the mountain and in places down the western side.
Ride with caution until the work has completed and weathered.
