THANK YOU THANK YOU....TonyBKK;286630 wrote: Ok, rather than feed the rumor mill I just called the PTT Call Center (1365) and they confirmed that the Thai government has indeed mandated that gasoline (benzene) 91 be discontinued.
Many stations still have stock, but when it's gone it will be replaced by gasoline (benzene) 95.
Dont know about other brands but with PTT it's not a huge price difference between gasoline 91 and 95; 44 and 46 baht a liter respectively.
It is a waste of money to run an engine designed for lower octane fuel on high octane, and it would be interesting if anyone can come up with an article that explains WHY the government has chosen to phase out gasoline 91, but TiT I doubt there's any good reason.
Ride on!
The 91 benzine i`ve bought in the last week has been around 45 baht/L and the 95 was closer to 50!TonyBKK;286630 wrote:

Reckon it wasn't from PTT then since they set their prices nation-wide: http://www.pttplc.com/th/pages/home.aspxCruising;286636 wrote: The 91 benzine i`ve bought in the last week has been around 45 baht/L and the 95 was closer to 50!

Most People have been Complaining for the last couple of Years that they Stopped Selling Real 95, Now that it is Back I suppose they will all be Complaining it is Too Expensive??? Just No Pleasing some People!!! Enjoy it Mate and Have a Great weekend!Cruising;286636 wrote: The 91 benzine i`ve bought in the last week has been around 45 baht/L and the 95 was closer to 50!
That source also shows the transport costs for fuel to the provinces (Provincial Prices in 2549) so it appears that fuel in the provinces is more expensive than in Bangkok.Cruising;286640 wrote: Possibly Tony. There`s also this one for Bangkok... http://www.eppo.go.th/retail_prices.html
95 Gasahol is roughly 1.5 baht a litre more or there bouts..cdrw;286692 wrote: Today, in Pattaya and needing gasoline, I found that PTT, Petronas and Texaco had all now had discontinued 91-benzine
and now sold only gasahol. All three had evidently changed their signage just before closing last night!
I found that ESSO also had also stopped selling 91-benzine in favor of 91-gasahol...BUT they now offered 95-benzine.
Recently, I'd been paying 44-Bt for 91-benzine and the what was pleasantly surprising is that the 95-benzine at ESSO was only 38-Bt!!
Yep...I'm now embarrassed and was confused at the time of purchase.Cruising;286694 wrote: 95 Gasahol goes for around 38 baht.
May be some confusion?
This Orange color is typical for 95 gasohol. If the alcohol in the fuel is going to affect the rubber parts in the fuel system it is not going to happen overnight, so use up as much of the tank as you can and refill with benzinecdrw;286745 wrote: Yep...I'm now embarrassed and was confused at the time of purchase.
Below is a pix of the sign at the Esso station; there were no red colored signs on any of the pumps
as occurred for 91-octane.
I asked the attendant if the sign for 95 was benzine, he said yes! Obviously I don't read Thai!
So, will a the gasohol I purchased have a negative effect on my old '98 Suzuki dirt bike?
Look for the one on the price board out the front at around 46-47 baht/L....color and price on the board is the same as on the pump.ntb;294380 wrote: OK a bit confused here. What colour pump at stations is benzine 95 (gasoline)?
95 benzine is Yellow ,, 95 gasohol is orange 91 Gasohol is green , 91 benzine is redntb;294380 wrote: OK a bit confused here. What colour pump at stations is benzine 95 (gasoline)?
