Its a particular nice temple. I am fond of it and the head monk has an eye for landscaping.

After the temple it was back to Panor for an Akha supper cooked by Miss Nids mother, who visited earlier in the day and brought home cooked food for her daughter. We made a video call to thank Nid's mum.
Spicy and delicious pickled bamboo, pickled cabbage and mountain squash. A great honour for me to receive such hospitality. Miss Nid speaks only Thai and her niece Miss Opal speaks only Burmese. Such are the complexities of border life and education in this region. Miss Nid's brother also joined us and we were soon juggling four phones with translation apps.

The perfect ride to Panor, across the mountains on amazing minor roads and stunning views. Flora so green, butterflies and blue sky...air cool and sweet.
I wouldn't mind once in a while but not weekly. Apart from the distance to ride, the road CDAO to Fang is not known for NO accidents, i think at times it is considered the most accident prone one. Also time to look for other brunch venues.....
Perhaps fortnightly is better.
But I'm in for 2morra, then Wed Chai Prakarn, then home to CK for a while.
Saturday is a Talad Nut near Pu Chi Fah.

As per usual I got away late, due to the fact the Teak Garden manageress Suzi was leaving town today.
But that's another story.
Despite the clouds & showers around I had a dry run to & from Panor today.
My arrival time at Panor was 11.45am & a good time leaving CK at 10.40AM.
So just an hour for a quick blast for the 86 kms.
Steve M was already ensconced having a chat with the staff, and I immediately ordered my brekky & a coffee before greeting Steve - i was famished with zilch before I left home.

The recent Thai govt pledge to issue full citizenship ID cards to ethnics from across the borders has given Nid hope that she may get some ID that is more than she has now. Nid is like thousands of other ethnics who moved to Thailand decades ago with her parents but still has no citizenship papers. People without full ID cards have difficulty getting finance, bank loans (house / land / vehicle purchases), bank accounts, and driving licences. Nid has had some limited success with a driving licence & a bank account, but not much else. I was able to make a phone call for her this afternoon to get a government official to explain the new policy and process to her and possibly give her a chance for a significant life improvement.
Steve went home at 1pm-ish & I hung out for the rest of the arvo, waiting for ADV to eventually turn up.
At 4pm I departed for Takhong to catch up with my good mate Dr Tom for beer & a one-man jam session at the Takhong.
It was a successful, relaxing, no-stress day.
Long may they continue by the Mekong.
