A quick 2 nighter to introduce Citylife Magazine to Thoed Thai & Khun Sa's old HQs Museum

THOED THAI

Chiang Mai - Tha Ton = 175 kms

and the weather was absolutely superb

Chiang Dao mountain from the Chiang Dao by-pass road.

We came across an unfortunate accident & a dead rider

There was a brief photo stop at Wat Tha Ton to savour the views & fresh air

It was hot out there in the sun posing for the GT Rider

If you were canine & lucky you could get a nice cool bath

Then it was on up into the mountains. Tha Ton - Thoed Thai = 69 kms

These guys struggled 3-up on the Wave, but made it by weaving from side to side (& not getting run over on the wrong side of the road!) :roll:

Don't you just love riding here on these wonderful deserted steep & winding mountain roads...

In Thoed Thai John's wonderful Rim Taan Guesthouse beckoned by the stream (Mae Kham river.)

Bungalows by the stream 300 - 400 baht a night.

A steal for such a precious spot!

Thoed Thai has become one of my favourite destinations in North Thailand & the early morning market is one of the highlights.
You have to get up early - sunrise & it's worth it..

Early morning Thoed Thai from Wat Kha Kham

Its dull light before the sun rises above the fog 'n cloud

It's also nippy in the morning

First light & the monks are out doing their alms round, & all rugged up

The morning vendors are always cheerful

A lot of the market is about food

And eating it for breakfast

with a smile

The market street basically runs east - west, which means that the sun's rays shine straight down the street. And when the first rays come shining down the light is golden.

about to make me climb the steps to Wat Kha Kham

& give me the rundown on the temple's history plus the famous Shan " Crow Brothers" who ran bullock caravans trading from Shan state to North Thailand a 100? years ago. They financed the temple & hence the Two Crows statues there.

2010 POI SANG LONG ORDINATION CEREMONY IN THOED THAI

In Thoed Thai there will be a Poi Sang Long ordination ceremony for 20 Shan boys on 8-9-10 April 2010
John at Rim Taan Guesthouse says sleep in Thoed Thai on the night of the 8th to see the main Poi Sang Long ordination parade & ceremonies on the 9th April in Thoed Thai.
