2009 GT Rider Christmas Ride

MEET: X-Centre Mae Rim from 8AM on. "Early" brekky for those who need it.

THE FAST RIDERS MASTER PLAN

DEPART X-Centre 9.00AM.

THE WAY: Chiang Mai - Wiang Pa Pao - Phrao - Ping Khong - Rim Doi Resort - Chiang Dao - Chiang Mai.

THE ROUTE NOS: 118 - 1150 - 1178 - 107

From the X-Centre, ride back down Route 107 to the outer ring road, route 121.

Turn left on the outer ring road Route 121
Follow route 121 to Route 118 & the Chiang Rai road.

Turn left onto Route 118 The Chiang Rai Road, & follow Route 118 non-stop to Cabbages & Condoms on Route 118.

At Cabbages & Condoms: Brief drink 10-15 minute gossip & photo stop under the condoms.

Back on the road. Continue on Route 118 to the route 1150 turn off south of Wiang Pa Pao.
Regroup.

Turn left & ride Route 1150 non-stop to Phrao.
Regroup at the PTT petrol station in Phrao. Fuel up for those who need it.

Continue on Route 1150 30 kms to Ping Khong & the junction with Route 107.
Regroup

Turn left & head south on Route 107 4.7 kms to Route 1178 & turn right to Rim Doi Resort.

Arrive Rim Doi around 1pm for lunch.

At Rim Doi meet up with the leisurely riders.
Eat drink & be merry GT Riders.

Depart Rim Doi approx 3-3.30 PM for Chiang Mai.

Ride at your own pace to Chiang Mai.

Arrive Chiang Mai approx 4-4.30PM+

Regroup at the Kafe for happy hour Merry Christmas drinks.

THE LEISURELY PHANTOM & CRUISER RIDERS MASTER PLAN

DEPART X-Centre 9.30-45AM.

THE WAY: Chiang Mai – Phrao – Ping Khong – Rim Doi Resort – Chiang Dao – Chiang Mai.

THE ROUTE NOS: 107 – 1260 – 1001 - 1150 - 1178 - 107

From the X-Centre, ride back down Route 107 to Mae Rim & Route 1260
Turn left & follow Route 1260 to Route 1001

Turn left onto Route 1001 & ride 40 kms north to Ban Pa Mai
At Ban Pa Mai take a 15 mins drink stop, shoot the breeze & take some photos.

Continue on Route 1001 for 50.3 kms to Phrao & Route 1150

In Phrao, turn left & regroup at the PTT petrol station. 20 minutes drink stop & fuel up for those who need it.

Continue on Route 1150 30 kms to Ping Khong & the junction with Route 107.
Regroup

Turn left & head south on Route 107 4.7 kms to Route 1178

Turn right onto Route 1178 & go 1.5 kms to Rim Doi Resort.

Arrive Rim Doi around 1PM for lunch.

At Rim Doi Resort meet up with the fast riders

Eat drink & be merry GT Riders.

Depart Rim Doi approx 3-3.30 PM for Chiang Mai.

Ride at your own pace to Chiang Mai.

Arrive Chiang Mai approx 4.00 - 4.30PM+

Regroup at the Kafe for happy hour Merry Christmas drinks.

C'mon Muzz, join in and pop your cherry! None of us bite and it would be an excellent time to meet you. After all, you have 200+ posts and to my knowledge, nobody here in CNX has met you yet. Give it a go - you may like it ;-)

Thank you to all those guys & gals who turned up.
It was a nice group of varied people, personalities & bikes.

I enjoyed seeing such a diverse group ride together nicely, enjoy each other’s company plus a nice lunch at Rim Doi, where I think not many photos were taken - we were all busy eating, nattering away & savouring the day.
The few photos that I managed to snap….

Rim Doi is such a nice place with bungalows, lake & good food I would not mind organizing an overnight trip there next year some time.
