Just wondering which route recording app is the better. Other than carrying a dedicated hiking-type GPS unit.

Relive is a decent app for recording your journeys. It will not store detailed routes but give you a sense of where you have been. It is free and will store about 10 photos in the route to make it more memorable.

In the interim, I have downloaded a Yamaha App and will try that.

OSM Tracker for Android uses very little battery.

You find it free of charge at Google Play.
I use it as a backup when riding unmapped trails.
