Go for 2017 plus. Not before. There was a serious upgrade in 2017.
But most importantly know The bike & owner history if possible.
I sold my 2015 model for 80,000 baht in June with 176,113 kms on the clock.
It reappeared on the market a month later with 55,000 kms & a 100,000 baht price tag.

On my recent trip to Savannakhet I rode in the dark for 1.5 hours going into Loei & the lights were brilliant. The new Baja Design 20W LED driving lights were installed just a few days before Interesting enough now though, I noticed that when I switched from high beam back down to low only I...

Finally time to bite the bullet & get another Vstrom 650. There's not enough funds around to justify buying another new model, so a a good second hand one was the way to go. And the winner was a 2017 model One gentle farang owner & only 23,658 kms on the clock = a new bike for me with the...

You should be able to get a 2017 model with "low" kms for just on 200,000 baht.
Personally you don't need all the box accessories on your bike & don't have to buy these with the bike.
I guy on this forum recently asked me about a 2014 model for sale with only 38,000 kms on the clock. That's less than 5,000 kms a year; not even 1,000 a month. Too good to be true I thought.
With the 2017 model I bought from an owner who lived by the sea, there is noticeable rust / oxidation on parts that I should have picked up on, & eventually I will need new fork tubes - next year I think.
Having said that, I've clocked 33,000 kms on the bike since February & no complaints. Vstrom 650s are fabulous, tough, reliable, economical machines.
The stock Vstrom suspension is weak, although I know riders here with close to 100,00 kms on their 2015 models still with stock suspension.

Ever since the release of the new V-Strom 1000 in 2013, the Suzuki V-Strom 650 has shared only a subtle family resemblance to its big brother. And without a major design update on the DL650 line since 2012, it was starting to look a bit dated. Today Suzuki unveiled a fresh look for the 2017 […]

I have an '09 650 that I really like and runs great with 73K miles. I'm planning on keeping it for at least another 25K miles but lately have become very interested in the 2017+ 650's. So my question to anyone who has owned a first gen. and now owns a 3rd gen, is it a better bike? What things...
