The CRM250 i Got of Angkor1 is a mess i wonder if all the Honda Baja 250's he sold are as in the same sorry state ? So much for fun riding this Holiday, and i asked and asked if i needed anything to fix it up .... No its good to go "what a Load of SHIT !!!

LIST of thing missing or Fu..d

no air filter
clutch is buggerd needs a new one
missing engine bolts
fuel tank cracked and leaking at mounting points
back brakes not working need kit or new
This is the worst one the hole motor seems to be held together with silicion and oil pissing out everywhere!!! i could have lived with the rest of the problems the this one can not be fixed right now.
carb had that much crap in it .. i have never seen anything as bad as that ever !!!
missing bolts every where on frame air box so on.
front forks need redoing.
i have got it going even with all the things wrong with it but can not ride it any where.

And you say Bike is good to go Armin ??? so be careful to any of you buying a bike of Angkor1 (Armin)
so now having a look at taking the motor back to Australia with me to have it lovingly rebuilt , has anyone done this is it hard to do or then bring back again.

Didn't you look at the bike before you bought it? Can't see how this reflects badly on GT-Rider.

Ouch, that sucks, but really, did you buy the bike unseen?? That's a big no-no regardless of where you see it advertised... Sorry to hear you got a lemon... :(

True in this case i got the bike unseen and knew that it would need some work to bring it up to something i would be happy with but at the same time Angkor1 Being a German and owning ... Quote from e-mail ( I m a Tour operator www.motorbike-adventure.com 26 years) look them up you can see the bike a got off him in pro-mo photos. and as it was his bike one would think he looked after it but no:?
So far i have made a air filter out of a car wash spunge
pulled the clutch apart found that there are parts missing as well as brocken and am going shortly to a shop where i am having them made and fixed not that they will last long but i might get a weeks riding out of it.
also have found the back shock is stuffed as well.
have pulled the head and barrel off made gaskets the hard way all back together now so just need the bits for clutch.
it will be a nice bike in the end but its just not going to happen this holiday nam going to call Thai Air and find out about taking the motor home with me to be re-built to race standed a mate says he can do it up for i can get abot 45 HP out of it. the rest of the parts for the bike i will gather over the year and put it all together next trip over.

Hey Mudboots why would you buy such an old 250 when there are better choices now in Thailand. Buy unseen then complain about the condition of bike. So I can only assume you brought it for a song! I brought a car online once and wont do again as the camera will only show what the seller wants you to see. Hope it works out for you mate! Good Luck - hope the bike is safe to ride?

Cheers Ken F

I have had good experience both buying and selling bikes here, but must bear in mind that anyone can advertise a bike for sale. They can say whatever they wish, there is no checking of the advert by GT-Rider site, so the buyer must take the normal precautions. However you can often get some idea from the reputation of the poster and their general contributions to the site. There is no substitute for checking the bike out personally and also having a good look at the registration book and any service records etc, if not too sure what to look for, taking along a knowledgeable friend is a good idea.

Maybe you misunderstood that Armin guy? German accents are sometimes hard to get, maybe what he said was: "It's got to go" :)

Seriously, I once bought a 12 year old AX1 with green book for 35,000 THB, rode it 600km home, it didn't burn a drop of oil and the tach showed 65,000 km, I doubt it was the original one.

To start with i would rather a good 2 stroke than a 4 stroke .. that said i did sort of know i would have to do a bit of work on it..... Now Brake034 Peter ! if you and Armin knew the bike was F..ked from one end to the other but.... and i asked you guys if i needed parts for it both of you said sweet Fu..k all !! and as for me taking the motor home to be done up that is now none of your bloody business now mind you it would be handy if you come up with the right papers for the change of name as the ones you supplied with the bike are not worth shit.
I managed to get a 2 hour ride out of it i now have most of the oil leaks sorted but the clutch is is totally buggerd and needs all new parts the oil 2 stroke oil pump is buggerd and drains the oil reservoir in to the gear box so i have disconnected it and mixing oil in the fuel for now front fork seals are shot back shock is buggerd i could go on and on whats the point i will get the old girl up and running sweet with the right parts its a Frankenstein of mix mach parts that not quit fit right now ( Peter swallow my loss ???? well if you had been totally honest from the start i might have said forget it no deal but i have it now and i do not give up and will spend 10 times what i paid for it to get it the way i want it.
Anyway this is my last post for now untill i am back home time to strip the old girl down , get ready for the party tomorrow night and do family things.
Have a good New Year Everyone.

Let me guess, you paid about 50.000 baht so far for the bike and repairs?
Does the bike have a real good book?

Do you have the contacts to obtain a temporary export permit, allowing you to bring the engine back in Thailand without paying crazy import duties?
And remember, if you only do the engine.......what to do with the rest of the thing?

What will the airfreight two way cost you?
What will the rebuilt to "race standard" cost and how handy is this in Thailand?
How will a fxxked up frame, wheels, brakes etc, handle such a high spec engine?

What kind of bike will you have in the end.....what is the value if you do all of this and try to sell it in Thailand again?

What does it all add up and what kind of bike could you buy for that money in Thailand without all the worries?

Sometimes better to swallow your loss and start fresh, it may save you a lot of money in the end.
Totally agree, but that's not my bloody business, as you put it.

About 30 years ago a well-meaning friend of mine gave me some advice when I had to fix my CB360 I bought for 280 dollars every other day after getting stranded. Haven't forgotten it.

He asked me: "Why don't you do what the previous owner did?" I asked him: "Well, what would that be?" and he answered: "Sell it to some dumb-ass!" :)

Hi Mudboots
I feel sorry for your Experience but it should not surprise you cos life in Germany is gettin harder and harder which pushes the most Germans into make out a Dollar of everything!!! Your Post here did beware me from making a too good offer for some Wheels to Angkor1 and if you maybe had a look at his Touroperating Site and have seen the Pricelevel there it should not surprise you to realize he is out for only his own fortune.I hope you will get out of the mess with your Bike and wish you Happy Trails in 2013.
Cheers

Certainty a lesson learnt.

I bought a late 90`s 2 stroke Enduro bike 2 years ago here in LOS and even though the seller assured me it ran well i factored in replacing crank seals and main bearings because of it`s age.
Turned out the flywheel side crank seal was leaking.
Also having done this,if any other problems are evident you can think about other things besides the all important crank case pressure being the problem. It gives a good base for what and when regular maintenance needs to be done. Next engine refresh for mine will be rings, wrist pin, small end bearing and circlips as well as a clean up of the exhaust, port and power valve.

Hope this helps someone out there.

The whole story sounds like; FARANG CHEAT FARANG.
FARANG IS LYING!
Germans are sometimes a pain in the a.... I had a trusty neighbor, a German.
We got along well, we had some mutual agreements re; the land I leased from him (his Thai g'f.),
Unfortunately not written contract. After 6 yrs. he sued me, threating court action and I finally lost my house, eg.
had to sell for half the value. German was invalid, old and dissatisfied, frustrated, , irascible...

Today someone phone me and told me about this story. So I wonder myself about what I read here. I have all emails from Mr. Brad and me. - amazing what he wrote. Only he get 2 wheels from me until now. But I have no postadress when I get it my friend send the wheels to Brad. The bike got a new upside down fork. I never senn the tank liking. Intersting the following thread Bad Story.

I dont want to cheet anybody its not my fall and idea.

Read the emails. I wrote that the bike is not new. I brought it to a Thai company to fix the bike perfect. They charge me nearly 17000 Baht and they told me the bike is ok. I m not in Thailand I was in Europ and cant controll it. I trust the thai mecanic.

Hi Im Brad i would like to buy your CRM250 i am in Australia at this ponit in time but will send you the money one way or the other.
i will Have my wife and brother inlaw come over from Mae Sai to pick it up, that is if you have not sold it at this point.

cheer Brad

No worrys Armin at this point i am in Alice springs i have 3 weeks left out here doing a job and it dos not have my Qleensland Bank branch here + i am being paid in cash so it would just be as easy for me to use western union at this pont as its tax time at the end of this month and i would rather keep out of the bank or i will bloody well have to pay tax on it.
Should i call Peter to tell him i want it and to get it out of the bike shop before someone else buys it ? and it might be a few days before the wife can get over to pick it up so is Peter cool about looking after it untill pick up ?
And should i pick up a head kit for it to take back to Thailand when i come later this year Piston, Rings anything else you think it might need thats not easy to get in Thailand.

cheers Brad

May i ask is the CRM250 running on Pre-mix fule or dos it have a oil feed from oil tank ? and if i was to run it on Pre-mixed fule i run my CR500 on 32 to 1 liter of gas full synthetic two stroke oil it costs a lot but its good and dos not smoke hardly at all.
And i see from photos you have a big fule tank on the bike any chance you still have the original tank for it ? if not do you know where i could get one as i will not be doing much long distance be nice to one of each.
And i know the fule in Thailand is not that good if the bike is sitting locked up for a few months will it bugger the carburetor seals and rubbers is there a way you store it i would like to know thanks.

Hello Brad,

yes my friend Peter take car for this deal dont worry he is serious man and my best friend in Thailand. For the spare parts I think that is not a problem. I know one chinese company in Bangkok Phratunam. Name PRT Motors 254 Charoen Muang Road Phatumwan Bkk 10330 Fax 02216 6790 Tel 02 214 4986. They have a lot of new spare parts for many differnet bikes. I bought my first Hondas in this shop about 24 years ago. When you need parts you can phone them and send the money to PRT 2 days later you get what you order. When not in stock they get the parts quickly from Japan. But you dont need a piston now. The bike running is running. Sometimes I use this bike in Laos.
When you send me a mail that you buy this bike its ok for me because they only can sell it with my ok. ( sorry my english not so perfect ) Ehen you dont want it is ok also. Dosnt matter.
Where you stay in Thailand - Chiang Rai ? I know a very good mecanic in Chiang Ray City also. ( Soon Motocycle )

Best regards Angkor 1

Ok no Worrys Armin i have sent a email to Peter to say i will send him 20.000 barht on Monday as western union is at the post office here and not open on weekends but by law here i need his last name and an address to put on paper work to send... i have asked hin for the above.
That is if 20.000 barht is enough deposit for you untill Jiranunt gets over to Chiang Mai next month ? if not please tell me okay.
And yes i seen the klx 250 for sale i had a 2004 klx here to ride to work good bike but i just did not like it much when i went off road on it a few times but a nice way to get to work i am just a lover of two strokes and in the end i will end up turning your old CRM in to a re-build off road beast Open-mouth smile

regards Brad.

Hi Armin
Yesterday i sent Peter 22.000 Barht by western union for deposit to hold the CRM250 for me untill my wife comes over to Chiang Mai on the 25th of July.
i sent him a text messege with the code number to pick up the money all he needs is photo ID as well i asked him to send me a text messege or an email to say he has gotten the money okay but nothing from him so far.
Anyway that leaves 30.000 Barht for Jiranunt my wife to give Peter when they pick up the bike.
Sorry to keep asking questions about the bike but .....Open-mouth smile

i was meaning to ask you what is the brand of expansion pipe exhaust is on the CRM 250 ?

are the chain sprockets front and back standard or have you geared it down for off road ?

have you done any motor modifications , ported, carburetor jetting kits, racing reeds, so one ?

Ps: looking forward to seeing your old vidios on youtube.

Cheers Brad.

Hello Brad,

BAD STORY.

I here from Peter not so a good story. Your wife came this morning to pick up the CRM. The Thaimecanic promised me that the bike is ok and everything is fine. But the rear brake was not ok. So a Thaifriend drove this bike to another shop in Chiang Mai. On this way the engine blocked ans stop. Piston problem. Why, they forgot to check the 2 stroke oil - the tank was empty. Bravo exelent work. So what can we do now ?
I send some money in a few minutes to Chiang Mai to buy a new piston and fix the engine immediately. I m very sorry for this action. Thai people, sometimes make me very sad. They promised me everyting is ok everything fine but now !!!?????

Dont worry please.

Best regards Angkor

Yes Angkor i had a call this afternoon and no one could understand me Gerrrrr!!!
Ok the stupid mecanic seized the motor becouse no oil !!!
i now want to know how bad it do damage to bore?? dos it now need rebore ... and rejetting for new oversize bore ? or will he test ride it again and do same thing ??
I know a lot about two stroke motors i have rebuilt my CR500 two times now .... Brakes no problem easy to fix i asked my wife to be sure no one to ride bike yes i can rebuild motor myself but i am not in Thailand to see motor ... I am still not even sure what year motor it is green book says its 1994 but i think bike is 1989-1990 but i am not sure ??
The 1991 to 1996 crm250 mk2 to k3 you can use same parts the mk1 thats what i think your bike is not so easy.
What i am worried about if they have damaged the bore of the bike they will just put new piston and rings in it and not care about the bore ... i do !

When bike has been fixed and for goodness sakes get them to start it not ride it !!!
Send me an email when its fixed i would like the bike to be sent to the X center in Chiang Mai Ian Bungy will keep it untill i or my wife will pick it up, my wife will not be back to Chiang Mai for 3 months so we will have to see about finish payment by western union as i am still in this bloody Alice Springs and at the rate i am spending money it might be a long bloody time before i get back to Thailand.

cheers Brad.

You surprise me ! i not think bike would be ready for another month, I would very much like to know what parts needed to be replaced or fixed just for i can know myself.
Jiranunt is a strong woman and says she will call Peter to do pick up and money she just tell me to not worry she do, i was saying going to get Ian to get it but she says i have given her the money its her job now .. so i am to shut up i guess.
If you are in Thailand over the new year it would be good to meet you and have a few beers i would love to hear your tales of the early days of ridng in Thialand .... what happend to the vidio's you were going to put on face book ?
cheers Brad.

Hi Angkor
Mate i have talked to Jiranunt and she as talked to Peter by phone.
Like i said i was not expecting you to have the bike fixed so fast and as it has just been the end of the month here and i have used all my spare cash with house payments buying another bike witch is still not running right after paying a lot to mechanic and sending monthly money to the wife and buying my ticket for Thialand in Decmeber what money i have left i need to live on untill the next payday.
My wife has the money to pay for it but says she will not be going over to Chiang Mai untill October and willl pick the bike up then.
If you friend had not seized the motor last time we woulld both be happer and you would have your money and me your bike so for now i just have to leave it up to my wife Armin.
I have the YZF600R up for sale if and when ii sell it we can work something out for you can get your money faster but for now its looking like October mate.

Cheers Brad.

I didn't read all of it but I say if there's a lesson to be learned it's: never buy anything from abroad, never buy anything unseen.

If you do, that's the risk you take, don't complain about it later. :)

Also I bought a DRZ 400 Suzuki but after 800 km in the mountain near Luang Phrabang finish engine trouble. Back in CNX Joe repair the bike after 2000 km problems again now the starter ....I shell see whats again. You never know by a second hand bike. But I dont complain the owner before in CNX . Its my fall.
With Brad I cant understand he always told me at the phone no problem he can fix everything by himself.

Sorry, I disagree, I've bought and sold cars and bikes sight unseen and as long as the buyer and seller know and trust one another there's never been any drama.

Most recent for me was the KLX 351 I bought from a friend of a friend in Chiang Mai. It had the Johnny Sned stamp of approval so I knew it was a solid bike.

Now, buying a used vehicle sight unseen off someone I don't know... That does sound a bit risky...

I thought I would wait a while be for I posted again + I have been busy with work. angkor1 (Armin) yes the bike I got of you is basically a worn out pile of rubbish and I am dealing with that soon it will be a dam fine beast of a bike. But we need to get the paper work sorted only one of the papers had your signature and that was in the wrong spot you signed where my wife was to sign and all the other copies passport so on and your address in Thailand were photo copies as was your signature on them and ( are not acceptable AT ALL! ). So I will over look that I got a heap of shit off you if you can please sort out the paper work with a fresh signature on every paper I will e-mail you an address to mail them to thank you. As for the other motard wheels keep them I would never use them anyway. (Quote: The bike got a new upside down fork.) problem is the seals are shot to hell toped them up and they lost all the oil in two days, don't suppose you could tell me what make and model they come off ? if not I have my eye on a set of CR 250 forks for $200 that will fit I think. I said that I will spend 10 times what I paid for the bike to get it the way I want it ... to be honest I hope it dos not go that far but I admit I am up over nearly 2 times what I have paid for it, been world wide shopping. Bit of a list so far... from: http://www.rinkya.com , http://www.leisuretrail.co.uk , http://japan.webike.net/HONDA/CRM250 ,http://www.bbimporters.com.au, as well as ebay. Another complete working motor for donor parts and as I write this the barrel is being ported and the clutch and oil pump, water pump other bits are out of it.

Another back shock as you can not just stick any shock on it with out a lot of buggering around and the one on it is beyond repair
287024=14489-new%20back%20shocky.jpg
And other carby as the one on it is just about buggered the new one has now been jetted for what the bike will become next time it fired up

A new seat cover and
287024=14494-crm%20seat.jpg
plastics. front and back mudguards and radiator shrouds and new headlight.. mind you the one on it is the only light that works but is so dirty it can not be cleaned
287024=14499-555.jpg
Another back brake master cylinder with a new kit in it
287024=14478-208082_600x600s.jpg
A full engine gasket kit + an extra clutch gasket and clutch cable, a chian guild as the one on the bike was missing, a XR400 air filter yes it fits, a Vapor Digital Gauge
287024=14501-vapor%20tachometer.jpg
as the one on the bike is useless as there's no place to put a speedo cable on the wheel. Got a new gear leaver for a CR500 out of the US as the standard one is to short to fit my motoX boot under + it looks good.

l post man is a friend of the family so,so far so good mind you I will get him a bottle of top shelf whisky in duty free next time over. But for now work bloody work ....................

For the next few months I will have nothing to say on this thread. When I have all the parts for the bike stock piled over home and I get a brake from work to fly to Thailand I will do before and after photos of the bike for those that maybe interested. The web sites I listed in the post below carry parts for most dirt bikes and if you have a Honda CRM 250 you will find everything you need to fix your bike at these sites. Another note : I looked all over Mae Sai and Chiang Rai to find spray cans of carburettor cleaner bike shops just looked funny at me, Next day we where in Tesco doing food shopping and I was looking around and bugger me !!! there was Carburettor cleaner !!! so it your after some try tescos :p

With the year fast counting down I have more or less now have everything to give the old CRM 250 re-build. The paper work has been sorted thank you Armin. The cost of everything has sort of got to where you do not really want to add it all up "But it will be worth it ,even down to full graphic kit from the UK or the Stainless steel Pro SkiLL expansion chamber which is a thing of beauty and costs it :shh: <img src=""
