The annual Sikhottabong stupa festival, which takes place from January 29 to February 2, will once again bring a vibrant atmosphere to Khammuan province, offering visitors a chance to experience one of central Laos’ most meaningful religious traditions alongside the local way of life.
At the heart of the celebrations stands Sikhottabong Stupa, one of the most revered Buddhist monuments in Laos. Located in Thakhaek district, the provincial capital of Khammuan, the ancient stupa is closely associated with the historic Sikhottabong Kingdom, which once flourished along the Mekong River.
