Is the Xanakham - Chiang Khan open for motor bikes

We are planning a trip through Laos and thinking about taking the Vang Vien, Xana Khan - Chiang Khan border croosing and then through Loei back to Chiang Mai.

I can not find any write up on this border crossing and although it shows on the map I have as a border crossing and I am not sure we can take our bike through the border there.

Please let me know if any of you guys have any experience crossing this border.

Xanakhan to Chiang Khan is not an international crossing - only open for local traffic.

Either leave through the Kenthao (Nam Heung bridge) crossing more to the west (Rd 4 from Xayabouri to the south) or the Vang Noa ferry to Ban Kok Phai about 35 km North-east of Xanakham (crossing and seems to be international now)
