The left hand side fork tube on my Kawasaki Versys is bent by a degree or so. I have spoken with Kawasaki Chiang Mai who tell me a new tube will cost 'about' 30,000baht. This seems excessive. Has anyone got any experience with the replacement of a tube and the cost of the job.

Just for the sake of interest, I spotted this on Amazon. Cost is less than 10,000baht http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fork-tube-Kawasaki-Versys-07-08/dp/B004C3I2RE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1400743047&sr=8-1&keywords=kawasaki+versys+fork

If i remember correctly the entire fork assembly sells for some ~28k baht, so I think that's what they quoted you, not just the tube.

BTW, Versys forks are made in Japan which is why they are so expensive...

Thanks Tony. I'm just 'smicking-it-up' prior to selling it. I'm off sailing again and will buy a new bike when I next return.

It is difficult to say if the cylinder is bent without removing it from the bike. That will be done at Kwakka in Chiang Mai next week. The piston is certainly bent a couple of degrees. One side is untouched and I just don't see the need to buy a whole new assembly for 30k.
