Flood Alerts & Road Damage reports

Just a head's up to riders that it is not a good time to be riding around much at the moment due to the flash floods.
Many areas in the North have been hit with steady rain for the last few days.

The Nan river is flooding - landslides & bridges have been taken out.
R101 Chiang Klang has been hit.

Whilst the floods may recede quickly if we are lucky, the damaged bridges & landslides may take longer to fix.

The Thai PBS North TV has been a good FB page to follow.

The Phu Chi Fa - Doi Pha Tang watershed ridgeline that is the border between Thailand & Laos was the start of the flash floods that hit Wiang Kaen & Thoeng via the Mae Ngao & Mae Lao rivers.

Here's a clip from a Hmong guy just below Doi Pha Tang, where you can actually see the start of the Wiang Kaen flash flood.

After a short break, the rain continued in round two, but it was in the West, on the Thai-Myanmar border this time.
It has caused horrific flash floods in Mae Sai, Thoed Thai, Fang, Tha Ton, and Chiang Rai.

A favourite GTR guesthouse - the Rim Taan - in Thoed was hit badly two days ago.
Multiple landslides on the Thoed Thai road R4032 brought down power lines, and the town was cut off, and there was no power or internet for 24 hours.
Today, I was fortunate enough to contact John and his family to check on how they were doing.
Not very well, the flood came through & devastated the riverside resort & bungalows.
They lost all their bedding, mattresses & some TVs, but no loss of life.

Some images & VDO received.

Its certainly has been an interesting time to live in Chiang Rai, so lucky our house has not been affected.........................we got hit with very bad flooding in the lastweek of August, out here in Thoeng (1 x hour from CR city) some saying the worst they have ever seen.......................................2 x weeks later it was Chiang Rai city to get flooded, and alot of nearby villages near the Mae Kok river system.

Alot of devistation and its terrible to be here and see so many people affected, the clean up will be massive ;)
