Anyway-- where to decode kaw vin no's. A good website to explain all the digitss for Kaw. ( all bikes) exists but does not let me enter in to find out what year my bike is.
Seems the 10th digit is letters; ?
i got on a vin code reader to find out what year my vulcan S is. but site did not work

ML5EN650MMDAO4916 Seems the 10th character is always Letters so how to know what year is my bike ?

Interesting that you're having trouble to decipher your VIN number.
I too recently had trouble deciphering the VIN of my Vstrom, made in Japan.
None of the standard international VIN decoders seemed to work.

However I just tried this one for your Kawasaki

and it says 2021?

After many discussions in Bkk/ptty; they put the year the same year they submit the green book So I so it ended up a yaer before what it was to be. No one really cares in any Kaw office about the VIN codes per Kaw. stds.

Intriguing.

Kawasaki announced the model in late 2016 as the smallest model in its Versys range of motorcycles, which began production with the 2017 model year.

Yet when I input my VIN into an on-line decoder it says 2010? Green book says 2016.

Yes same here on a new Vulcan S that was to be a 2025. . But they processed green book for 2024 just because they did the papers in 2024' TIT. Then if you look at the vin; its a 2021. My guess; just a guess is they make Thai bike out of al lthe left over parts at the end when all countries have their supplies. Your VIN tagged frame could be anything with a hodge podge of whenever. WHO knows But they sure dont follow their own system.

I did think the frames may be made and stamped in Japan but assembled in Rayong.
Who knows?
Not hodge podge. Quite well made. So far.

I guess it depends on when during the manufacturing the VIN is put on?

Also VIN decode program may not be super correct. How can a bike not introduced until 2017 be identified as 2010. Maybe I have a prototype?
