Just had a coffee there this morning before setting off up highway 1081. Yes, friendly staff and good coffee! Apparently the owner is married to an Australian. Thanks for the posts on other eateries, keen on trying La cuisine!

Also confirming this- crossed today into Huay Xai; Thai immigration were very friendly and no issues at Lao entry point. I asked them if it was possible that I exit Lao at Muang ngern into Nan province and they said that I could.. we shall see. Presently in Louang Namtha and the rain has set in!

Thanks for this post Jimenator... My only worry is that I would need to organise a visa for Laos as I've heard they won't do visa on arrival at this border - and also still not 100% sure they will let me through as there have been plenty of recent posts about not letting Thai bikes into Laos at...
