Africa Twin Crf1000l - How Many Members Have Placed Orders?

So, still no news on a delivery date. I am now wondering whether to hold off for the 2107 model. Not sure of colors other than the upgrades to wheels etc that have been made. Does anyone know roughly when the 2017 model would be expected here. Is it possible my delivery, and i'm sure others has been delayed because of the 2017 model. I did ring Rama3 but they couldn't give an answer.

Yippee, it's arrived!
Spending Christmas in Austrai, Salzburg and Vienna but was informed my bike will arrive on the 25th. Thanks Jesus!

Gratulations ! Honda can't deliver a main stand since 2 months (SW-Motech alternative is available now). I guess other spare parts won't be on stock if needed. Of course also no green book and no number. So it needs time until everything is completed.

Here in Pattaya the people who drive a Africa twin have it.

They said that the documents for the bike haven't arrived yet, which i didn't believe. So I don't know whether that is a general problem in Chiang Mai or whether they try to challenge BMW Barcelona in the 'Worst-Service-Contest'. (actually Barcelona has improved).
 
Damn....The wife said "In exchange for the Africa Twin I must accept celibacy!"

Collecting the bike this Sunday. Wife's eh!

Only in Thailand!

Arrived back from Austria on the 31st. Rang Honda on the 4th to say we'll collect the bike on Sunday the 7th as agreed. All of which was arranged after they confirmed 25th December delivery. Wife and I head out to Honda and phone to mention we are on our way. Bike has been sold!
Guy calls back an says the bike has been recalled due to a scratched bearing. I assume the wife misheard and means fairing. I asked if they could confirm the fault so I can mentioned on our site as well as this. They then say they scratched the bike themselves and no recall. I mention I will take the bike and wait for new fairing. Bike has been sent back. Yeah right! One salesperson blames it on the other.

Cheeky numpties obviously gambled while I was away and sold to someone to not turn a new sale away.

I have to wait until the 18th now. Buggers!

From the short time I have had it, I am very impressed. It is like riding a BMX and feels so light in comparison to my moded Versys. Very well balanced bike.
Dunlops coming off. Mitas e07 Dakar going on.

Ordered a Black Manual from BigWing CM 10 days ago, stipulating had to be 2017 build, was told 2 months......waiting

I don't know about the Versys, but a BMW F800GS - from my point of view - handles much better and actually it is much lighter. For me, the weight is the biggest disadvantage of the AT. However it is a really very very good bike.

Guess its horses for courses as I did a test review for the F 800 GS for an auto site in Thailand. Great bike but I wasn't upset jumping back onto my Versys. As for the 800 and AT, different kettle of fish off road. Weight, when balanced correctly is neither here or there.

Just to add: Should anyone consider buying an Africa Twin, for the love of God do not buy it from the same dealer as me. I won't mention the name here but by all means PM if you need to know where to avoid.

Yes, that's the nature of a forum to discuss different opinions.
I had both bikes at the same time for nearly 4 months and so I
was able to jump from AT to GS ... and that's how my comment
came out. But as I said, it's a really good bike and if it had 20kg
less it would be even better.

That is Unusual ozziedave007 ? My Friend walked in and Paid for a Bike a couple of Weeks ago. Received it 2 Days Later! A Black DCT. Maybe the Tri-Colour or Rally Red takes time but the Shitty Colours ( Black , Silver ) are in Stock I think?

Lot's of work going at at home the last few months. Had a quick blast around a mudy dirt track and discovered a high fender is indeed a good idea!

While blasting down a straight I plowed through some puddles etc. As I am nattering through the action cam I took a steady approach through a muddlypuddle where I got wheel lock-up. Mud built up under the fender preventing it from rotating and I came off. Severed the brake line and ABS after removing the fender to enable me to ride the bike!

No damage from the fall and the mighty Drift Ghost -S took the brunt of the fall. That thing just keeps plodding on where GoPros only fear to go.

I reckon that is a common complaint about most of the big bike dealers here.
Many of them don't seem to care about the customer, just sell them a bike.
In Cnx perhaps only Kawasaki & Triumph get a thumbs up for service & customer care.
BMW, Suzuki, Honda Big Wind(g), Ducati all seem to disappoint.
Perhaps they are too busy selling bikes.
The best guys for big bike service would appear to be the non-dealer shops, where the owners ride a big bike & share the passion for riding.They actually care, it's their life too.
Perhaps we could start a separate thread for big bike service & care? But then again it may cause too much trouble.
